Well, what are your interests? What do you have an affinity for? Investigate if there’s a market for your interest. I.e., are there people spending money in pursuit of what you are interest in?

Use a search engine to find forums and bulletin boards or discussion groups talking about your interests. Also, use the search engines to look at who your competition would be and what they’re doing.

This little bit of up-front leg work should tell you if there’s a market for what your interest is and if money is being spent in that market. Now once this is determined, we go to the next step.

The next step is to decide whether you want to come up with your very own product or service to sell to this market, or would you rather piggy-back off an existing product or service and skip the developmental headache. This later choice is most commonly called “affiliate marketing.”

If you’re a beginner internet marketer and you want to have your own product to sell so you can keep 100% of the sales price, but don’t want the headaches of developing your own unique product, you could then just buy a private label right product in your niche and sell that.

Or yes, to be completely unique you could develop your very own product or service, but that’s difficult for a beginner and not recommended (exception would be if your previous background experience would be an asset to developing your own product).

Many a internet marketing millionaire started off with affiliate marketing however, for its simplicity. Here you basically just find a market that’s spending money, find a product that satisfies what they’re spending money on, and market that product or service to that market, thereby collecting a commission on every sale. And your website and sales copy does the selling; you just count the money. And it doesn’t cost anything to become an affiliate to a product or service either.

There’s also multi-level marketing programs available on the internet if that’s where your interest lies. But regardless of whatever vehicle or method or pay structure you ultimately decide to get involved in to earn money ways on the internet, it all comes down to traffic.
